Do you want to connect your Beolab speakers to a modern TV, but don't know which cable you need?
You are not alone.
Many Bang & Olufsen speakers work differently than standard speakers.
On this page, we try to clarify this step by step; however, it is not always possible.
Step 1:
Check the TV connection.
Modern TVs usually have:
HDMI-ARC
Optical (SPDIF)
AUX or 3.5mm (headphones)
If only HDMI-ARC is present:
Then there is only one solution: an external HDMI-ARC connection; we offer the WiiM Ultra for this, An Almando could be the option if you want a 5.1 Dolby system.
If the TV has an optical (SPDIF) output connection (this is primarily intended for use with a soundbar or 5.1/7.1 receiver), the WiiM Mini might be an option.
If the TV has a headphone mini-jack and USB, the AV-TRUSBDIN8 cable could be an option.
Step 2:
Choose the correct solution:
Directly via RCA (phono) to the headphone output of the TV.
For Beolab: 8000, 6000, 4000, 1, and the LabPenta
For Beolab 3, 9, 4002, 6002, 8002 to headphone.
Simple and good sound. In this way, you will need to set the speakers to LINE.
If the choice is via HDMI-ARC with a converter, e.g. the WiiM Ultra, it can be done either with RCA or by placing the current PowerLink cable (DIN8) in between via an adapter cable. This provides the same as B&O: automatic on/off of the Beolab. Additionally, the current TV remote can be used; there is a streaming function where the TV remains off and the Beolab plays the streams—a top-notch integration.
Depending on the speakers, the Beolab 8000, 6000, 4000, 1, and the LabPenta can simply be connected to the WiiM Ultra using RCA cables. Speakers such as the Beolab 3, 9, 4002, 6002, and 8002 can be connected via RCA to DIN (line cable).
If you want to use the current Powerlink cable, the AV-TRSDIN8 adapter cable is required, optionally with the Powerlink Y cable to create 2 connections. Via this cable, you can also connect to Beolab speakers that have RJ45 connections via a DIN8 to RJ45 cable.
