Do you want to connect your WiiM streamer to Beolab speakers?
Then you need the right cable and connection.
Because Bang & Olufsen speakers work differently than standard speakers, a correct connection is essential.
On this page, we explain how to easily connect your
WiiM Mini, Pro, or Ultra to Beolab speakers — without interference and with optimal sound.
Which WiiM are you using?
WiiM Mini
This connects to the AUX input of the Beomaster/Center/Sound unit of the B&O Audio system using a DIN to mini-jack cable (MP3 cable).
If you want to use the Mini standalone (e.g., to Labs: 8000, 6000, 4000, 1, and LabPenta), use a mini-jack to RCA cable.
If the Lab is connected via RCA or mini-jack/RCA connector, the sliders on the speakers are set to LINE.
WiiM Pro or the WiiM Pro+,
can be connected in three ways:
1-Directly with RCA/phono/tulip cable,
Relatively inexpensive connection. Disadvantage: the speaker can switch off during a 'silent' moment.
2-With adapter/trigger cable AV-TRSDIN8 to existing Powerlink cables (often an extra Y-cable is required)
3-Can be connected directly with Line cable (tulip/Powerlink DIN7) (types such as Beolab 3, 9, 4002, 6002, 8002)
WiiM Ultra can do the same as the WiiM Pro+
Directly with RCA/phono/tulip cable
With adapter/trigger AV-TRSDIN8 to existing Powerlink cables (often an extra Y-cable is required)
Or directly with RCA/tulip/phono cable to Powerlink DIN7 for Beolab 3, 9, 4002, 6002, 8002
When connecting with Powerlink adapter/cable AV-TRSDIN8, the on/off function of the Beolab works the same as with B&O components.
The Beolab will be switched on or off via the internal 12V trigger signal.
A PowerLink Y-cable is often required for this connection to connect two PowerLink cables.
Important: Not all Beolab speakers work with a trigger signal (Beolab3000/4000/5/50 and 90 do not).
Therefore, always use the correct cable or adapter
Connecting a WiiM Ultra or Pro+ to a Beomaster/Sound/Ouverture/Center via the DIN connector.
The WiiM can be connected to the AUX input found on most B&O Hi-Fi units via a DIN7 to 2 x RCA connector. You can find this cable here.
(Exception: Beocenter 2 and Beosound 4; DIN as AUX but RCA connector, these can be connected to AUX-IN using an RCA cable)
Common mistakes
Wrong cable → no sound
No trigger → speakers remain off
Bad cable → hum or noise
