Are you experiencing a hum or interference in your Beolab speakers? This problem often occurs in installations with CAT7 cabling and RJ45 connectors. Fortunately, in most cases, this is easy to resolve. On this page, we explain where the hum comes from and how to prevent it. Where does the hum come from? The cause is usually poor or missing grounding. At Bang & Olufsen cables such as: Powerlink Masterlink the shielding (jacket) is used as ground. In CAT7 installations in homes, this often goes wrong: Only the 8 wires are connected The shielding (ground) is not used Wall sockets are often not grounded Result: hum or noise in your speakers How do you solve this? Use RJ45 connectors with metal shielding Connect the ground (shielding) correctly Use wall sockets with a connection for shielding Ensure that the shielding makes contact with the connector This prevents interference and ensures a stable audio signal
