Beolab 3500/2000

The legendary Beolab 3500.

We advise against using a cable for the Beolab 3500 as a center speaker with a TV or for streaming.
This speaker was not designed for this purpose, despite what is often thought.
The Beolab 3500 features its own control system and is controlled via the Beo4 remote control.
The speaker is primarily intended for use within the Bang & Olufsen Masterlink system.
In combination with a BeoLink 1611 converter, the Beolab 3500 can function, whereby the Beolab 3500 thinks that a B&O audio or video system is connected. Connecting via special cables to activate the MCL input often proves unreliable in practice, resulting in complaints such as:
hum or interference, disappointing sound quality

For this reason, we have stopped selling these cables for the Beolab 3500 (especially MKI models)

Our advice: Use the Beolab 3500 exclusively within a Masterlink environment for the best performance or in combination with a beolink1611.
The beolink converter 1611 remains a more reliable solution; please read this manual

Programming must be performed in a room where no other B&O devices are present, or disconnect the power to those devices.
To switch on, press quickly: MENU 0 4 GO
On a Beolink 1000: MENU 0 4 PLAY
On display, MCL SEL. (master control link selected)

This cable is compatible with Beolab 3500 speakers with a serial number lower than 19343452

With this cable, you can connect a Beolab 3500 or LCS9000 directly to your Airport Express or iPod in a stand-alone room.
(This cable is also compatible with the Wiim Mini Bluetooth receiver for wireless streaming)
Stream your audio music over the speaker.
This cable is intended for Beolab 3500 MKII and LCS9000 speakers with a serial number higher than 19343452.
To program the speaker, you need this cable and a Beo 4 or Beo 1000 remote control.
Programming must be done in a room where no other B&O devices are present, or disconnect the power to all those devices!
To switch on, press: MENU MENU 0 4 GO
On a BeoLink 1000: MENU MENU 0 4 PLAY
The display will then show: PL SEL. (PowerLink selected)

Volume control is then managed from the connected device (e.g. TV, iPod, etc.).
To turn off the speaker, press the “Power Off” button or use the remote control.

It is best to connect this speaker via a BeoLink 1611; then programming is not necessary and the Beo4 works partially.
This cable is intended only for the Beolab 3500 speaker; this cable does not work with other Beolab speakers.
The Mini-jack cable fits the WiiM Mini Streamer or other streamers/mobile phones/tablets with a mini-jack connection.

You can connect a Bluetooth/streamer using a DIN to mini-jack adapter in the AUX/Datalink port.
You can connect a Masterlink cable to the Masterlink or use an RJ45 Masterlink adapter and Cat7 cable.

How do you connect multiple Beolab 3500 and Beolab 2000 speakers for streaming?

With the right Bang & Olufsen accessories, you can easily connect multiple Beolab speakers and stream music.
You will need: Beolink 1611
Masterlink distributor (6 or 10 ports, depending on the number of speakers)
RJ45 Masterlink adapters
CAT7 network cables
DIN5 to mini-jack cable (MP3 cable)
WiiM Mini streamer

Installation in brief:
Connect the RJ45 Masterlink adapter to the Beolink 1611.
Connect the 1611 to the 6- or 10-port Masterlink distributor using a CAT7 cable.
From the distributor, use CAT7 cables to connect to the Beolab 3500 or Beolab 2000 and use another RJ45 Masterlink adapter. Connect the DIN5 to mini-jack cable to the AUX port on the 1611 and connect the Wii Mini.
Now you can stream music from your phone and use the Beo4 remote (TV button) to control the speakers in different rooms and adjust the volume.
